Hey there! I’m Sherei. It’s pronounced like Hooray with a Shh in front.

I was called out of darkness to

proclaim His staggering light.

Culture wars. Deconstruction. Polarization. Sometimes following Jesus can feel so exhausting and costly. I’m here to help.

The news is STILL good - let’s rediscover it together.

As a teen, I was the first one in my household to start following Jesus. A few months later I found out you can tell others about Jesus AS A JOB and I bugged the Lord until He agreed it was a good way to spend my life. From the time I learned to speak God, I was speaking to others about His goodness.

Following Jesus has been a WILD ride so far. I love preaching and empowering others. I’ve done that across the US in youth groups, churches, and at conferences, camps, and retreats. Along the way, I earned my master of Divinity and certificate in missional innovation from Duke Divinity School, where I annoyed a lot of my classmates by clinging to the historic and bright faith of the global church. They must have seen the redemptive edge in me though because I was voted most likely to go to for prayer by my class.

In undergrad, I was the state coordinator for the Alabama Campus Prayer Network, where I had the joy of leading 12 colleges and universities across Alabama and represented Alabama nationally through Campus America and the Luke18Project. After graduation, I went into full-time youth ministry for seven years and it was the joy of my life. In 2020 after a decade of dreaming, praying, and planning, I was commissioned to start Pioneers Church. I also started Pioneers Durham which is a social enterprise that empowers 100 small businesses to thrive through a cafe, marketplace, coworking space, and events venue.

I’m a wife to my best friend and ministry partner, Daniel, who is my favorite pastor and worship leader. Together we parent two dream-come-true-miracles-in-real-life girls, Adalena Rey, and Acadia Grove. We have a dog that I don’t love and a cat that I do love, which is quite a reversal because I don’t like to think of myself as a cat person but I do like to think of myself as a dog person. I live on 22 amazing acres with ducks, a log cabin, and both of my parents-who-now-love-Jesus-and-are-remarried-to-eachother-after-divorce-and-miracle-reconcilation, Puerto Rican telenovela style. Yes, I’m Puerto Rican. It explains everything.

I’m creative, and always dreaming up new enterprises and ways to see the church thrive. Sometimes I doodle, sometimes I build things online, and sometimes I write. My entire personality is based on Smallville, and I fulfill the coffee-drinking stereotype of your best #girlpreacher.
